Anamorphic Site Index Curves for Central Appalachian Red Spruce in West Virginia, USA

چکیده
Traditional site index curves are frequently produced for shade-intolerant species but scarce shade-tolerant species. Red spruce (Picea rubens Sarg.) can be found in three distinct geographic regions (northern, central, and southern) within the Appalachian Mountains. The one commonly used set of red is over ninety years old. A definite need exists a modern, regionally applicable curves. This research sampled 83 plots randomly located central Appalachians West Virginia. Three sets anamorphic were created after careful examination height models built using Chapman-Richards Meyer functions. One was constructed with traditional age pairs. second utilized suppression-corrected pair. third examined diameter at breast (DBH) Fit statistics indicated better performance age–height pair DBH–height versus models. Site conversion equations also investigated age-corrected index. Linear regression to determine significant climate variables utility including values maple (Acer rubrum L.) yellow birch (Betula alleghaniensis Britton) model predict Significant varying combinations index, climate, R2adj range 0.139–0.455. These new should provide productivity estimation growth yield modeling while aiding restoration efforts this important

A venereal disease educational programme entitled Venereal Disease Education in West Virginia was constructed. It consisted of a preliminary test to assess the level of general knowledge of venereal diseases, a value survey list, a lecture illustrated by colour slides, and a final test. The programme was presented to 3210 students in Northcentral West Virginia who ranged in age from 12 to 20 ye...

متن کاملSuccession and disturbance in an endangered red spruce−Fraser fir forest in the southern Appalachian Mountains, North Carolina, USA
Red spruce−Fraser fir forests are geographically limited to high elevations in the Appalachian Mountains (USA) and are considered to be endangered in the USA. We investigated the successional status and radial growth patterns in the heavily disturbed red spruce Picea rubens Sarg. and Fraser fir Abies fraseri (Pursh) Poir. forest of Roan Mountain, Tennessee and North Carolina. This study elucida...

We constructed watershed mass-balance budgets of carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) and measured seasonal net N mineralization in an attempt to account for nearly 40 years of large discrepancies in stream NO,-N export in two adjacent, gauged watersheds at the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service's Fernow Experimental Forest, WV. These watersheds have similar management histories, varying prim...
